Let's Learn BSL - Course 2

This is our second course which is aimed at children who would like to further their British Sign Language knowledge. In this course we look at BSL in more details and cover topics that children will find useful to learn. Lesson 1 You will learn about the different handshapes that are used in BSL and you will learn how to sign the different members of our families. Lesson 2 You will learn how to sign the many different emotions that you may feel. This will be very useful for both at home and at school. Lesson 3 In this lesson we will learn how to sign lots of different foods and drinks. Lesson 4 In this lesson we will look at the unique way that you sign BSL verbs. Directional verbs, such as, 'ask', 'help' and 'throw' move in front of your body to show more detail about what you are signing. Lesson 5 In this lesson we will learn how to sign requests, such as, 'can you help me?'. We will also learn signs which will be very useful when we need to remember our manners, like, 'thank you' and 'please' Lesson 6 This lesson we will learn how to ask questions - who, what, where, when, how, why. We will also look at BSL grammar in more detail to see how the structure of asking a question in BSL is different to asking a question in English. Lesson 7 You will learn lot's of conversation skills in this lesson. For example, asking 'what is your name?, 'Where are you from?' and 'How old are you?'. We will also look at how you sign the responses to these questions. for example, 'My name is....', 'I live in.....' and 'I am.......years old'. Lesson 8 This lesson we will look at how you sign the many things that you do in your daily routine. For example, 'wake up', 'eat breakfast', 'brush your teeth', 'play outside', etc.
